Afternoon in the Country at Serenbe – Palmetto, Georgia
I was excited to see friends and neighbors from both Atlanta and North Carolina at the event as well as some great food friends and chefs like Linton Hopkins (Restaurant Eugene and Holman & Finch), Virginia Willis (author of Bon Appétit, Y’all! and Basic to Brilliant, Y’all), Alisa Barry (owner of Bella Cucina Artful Food & Porto Via), fellow food blogger and writer, Alison Lewis (Ingredients, Inc.) and Chef Donna Brousseau.
The main event and party runs from 1 pm until 4 pm and just in case you have not had quite enough to drink or eat (which is highly unlikely), you can head over to the The Farmhouse at the Inn at Serenbe for an After Afternoon Party and the Silent Auction Checkout. The party continues beyond that event at The Hil if you are up for it!

What a great recap and photos!! It was a great event and wonderful to see you there as well as meet your husband. Stay well!
Big, big doings!!!
Seeing you lean over to scratch that pig makes me want to whisper to him NOT to trust the nice lady…because she thinks he looks delicious….
Hi Susan,
Yes, it was a really nice affair. LOL about the pig! He should worry more about some of the other chefs more than me. I think he’s too cute. 😉
Gwen
Beautiful pictures. Looks like a wonderful event and day!
Marvelous photos and coverage! We, on the other end of the weather, were being drenched by the rain on our way to brunch. Cutie piggy 😉 Yummm, pork fat…
An absolutely beautiful post, Gwen! I’d really like to look into going to this event next year.
Spectacular! I felt as if I was immersed in your perfect day. GREG
You captured the event beautifully! Extraordinary photos. I’ve always wanted to attend from San Francisco and was only able to because the annual Les Dames d’Escoffier International conference was held in Atlanta this year and timed to coincide with Afternoon in the Country. It was spectacular. Gracious Atlanta Dames know how to throw a party!
Hi Sandy,
I am so sorry that we missed each other! I agree that it was hard to find people you were looking for, so I guess we’ll have to try again next year. 🙂
I wholeheartedly agree, these Atlanta ladies put on quite the affair yesterday!

Looks fabulous! What kind of dog is that Ms. Bunky?
Hi Suddie,
Well, of course, I had to pet that cute and very well-behaved pup and ask what type of dog it is. 🙂 The owner told me he is a cross between a poodle and a chow. Pretty adorable, huh?! An apparently, he is so good because he is older. You would never know it.
Gwen
What fun!!! What crisp and clear photos too!
I’m in love with the photography. Gorgeous! You have the best job in the world!
Oh, Gwen, I love this post! The photos are fabulous and it looks like an incredible day! And for a great cause! Everything looks great and very autumny!!! But funny to see French macarons here!
And actually, the dog looks a lot like a Griffon which is a hunting dog and quite popular in Europe and I love them!
I really wish I could’ve been at this special day with you. The kids would’ve been thrilled to see all the gorgeous animals. I would’ve been totally content trying each and every one of those gorgeous macs. Such pretty photos:)
Looks like such a wonderful event. Your photos are beautiful.
