Our 6th Anniversary and a Big Announcement!
Now more than ever do I realize that I will never be content with a sedentary life, that I will always be haunted by thoughts of a sun-drenched elsewhere. – Isabelle Eberhardt, The Nomad: The Diaries of Isabelle Eberhardt
Six years ago this month I started a food blog on a chilly late fall day in the mountains of North Carolina. If you’ve followed our journey since then, you know that this little food blog has turned into something we never could have imagined the day our first post was published, November 23, 2009.
Since that time, we have had the pleasure of meeting so many talented people: chefs, food artisans, farmers, wine and spirits producers, restaurateurs, hotel proprietors, other food and travel writers, and tourism, public relations, and hospitality industry professionals. We’ve traveled to many incredible places around the world, been a finalist in the James Beard Awards in Journalism, and started our own small culinary travel business, On The Road culinary adventures. Most recently, we collaborated on a cookbook with one of the best Latin chefs in the United States, Anthony Lamas. Southern Heat was released at the beginning of November.
With so many changes in our lives and the type of work we’ve been doing, we knew it was time to make a major change. Not just another reiteration of Bunkycooks (which we’ve done several times in the past), but with a totally new focus, a new name, and a brand new website.
Here is a quick video of some of our recent travels and adventures and an introduction to what’s coming next!
* You will find information below about the music in the video and how to purchase it.
Our new site will be up and running soon, but our social media accounts will remain under Bunkycooks until everything transitions, so please continue to follow us at:
We look forward to seeing you soon at PratesiLiving.com and sharing some of the new features and adventures to come!
* Note – We’ve included short clips of several songs in our video. To purchase the complete versions of those songs, please go to iTunes or Amazon.com.

That is great – congratulations. Can I ask what brand/name are your boots – I love them. I do not own a pair but have to say yours are beautiful and maybe something I could ask for at Christmas.
Hi Kel,
Thank you so much. The boots are from Ugg and they make a different version now, but not this exact pair. You can probably locate the newer style online. Good luck!

Gwen- Thanks so much for your reply. I really appreciate it and say your boots are definitely the prettiest around! take care.
