Mountain Mondays
Happy Monday to you! We spent the weekend in the mountains, so I know that some of you will be happy to see a Mountain Mondays post today.
There were not very many signs of Spring this weekend in North Carolina. A few trees have begun to come back to life and some flowers have started to bloom, but it still looks very much like Winter for the most part.
It was very chilly and windy when we arrived and I stayed bundled up in sweaters and boots until yesterday when it was warm and sunny and just glorious. Too bad we had to leave to come back to Atlanta.
The nice part about being able to spend some time in the mountains is that we usually get to see the seasons in both places. Atlanta is definitely further along in it’s Springtime weather along with the pollen.
The Bunkycooks have been working on a few business opportunities since last Fall and one of them is hopefully going to be announced this week. I am excited to share this fun venture with you and look forward to yet another announcement very soon after this one. I have been a very busy girl. 😉
I hope you enjoy these early signs of Spring. Please also head over to see my dear friend Monet at Anecdotes and Apple Cores. This lovely young woman and her family have had more tragedies happen to them than any one family should ever have to bear. Some of her friends have been writing guest posts for her while she takes some time away from her blog to spend time with family. I baked Blueberry Corn Muffins as my guest post for her. It is a delightful recipe that I hope you will try from Secrets of a Jewish Baker.
Enjoy your week!
What a sweet guest post for Monet. She certainly needs all the comforting thoughts she can get. And I love your Mountain Monday post… just beautiful.
The blueberry corn muffins you shared on Monet’s blog look fabulous. I can’t wait to try them. You were so kind to fill in for sweet Monet. My heart breaks for her and her family.
I live in Texas now but grew up in Atlanta and went to camp near Cashiers, NC. I also love to cook and eat, so I’ve found much to love about your blog!
Great guest post for Monet! these muffins are delightful, and I can just taste the blueberries now.
You are such a kind person:) I cannot imagine being in Monet’s predicament and I shudder every day just thinking of her loss. It’s beyond sad.
I love your photos! I miss forsythia here in California – it was always the first sign of spring, along with snowdrops and crocuses.
Love the muffins, too!
Thank you for sharing about Monet. Though I don’t know here, it is always good to remember to send good feelings and prayers out to others and to always be grateful for our good moments.
Thank you also for the Mountain Monday photos and, I really needed them today.
And finally, thank you for the awesome muffin recipe. The photo is so enticing that I may have to make them and have a taste!
Best to the Bunkycooks.
You blessed me so much with your beautiful post and then these gorgeous mountain blooms. Thank you for sharing, for creating, and for inspiring me to remember all the beauty and good in this world. Many blessings tomorrow and in the days to come this week.
beautiful sweet muffins with so much meaning… thanks for the recipe, the pictures and your compassion – waiting for the announcements
Thank you for the delicious post for Monet today. Your “mountain visit” post is lovely. I miss those mountains. I grew up in Virginia and now live in the midwest–the flat midwest!!
Best,
Bonnie
You are a good neighbor. I read your Blueberry Muffin post. GREG
Breathtaking photos Gwen. I love the cherry tree! And dang blueberry muffins are my all time favorite, even over chocolate!! Can’t wait to hear about your new venture!
BTW- I was reading through the Dr Seuss cookbook again last night. Gosh I love that book. I’m waiting for my great niece to prepare a recipe with me. I told her we would make the first one together! She’s excited.
thanks again 🙂
Beautiful images of spring Gwen!! It is nice that you still have 2 seasons to visit with. Can’t wait to hear all your great news 🙂
Thank you for sharing those beautiful early Spring images. So calming and peaceful. You’re a good person, Gwen…I’ll be sure to check out your post on Monet’s blog.
Lovely colorful spring photos. I love the first one because it looks like a butterfly. Your guest post at Monet’s was very touching. The muffins looked so tasty too.
Loved the post you wrote for Monet and the muffins look great. I’m intrigued by the addition on the cornmeal.
Your mountain photos are so beautiful. Thanks for sharing and nice to meet you
