Food Blog Forum is Coming to Atlanta – Y’all Come!
You might have noticed that I have gone missing there have been a few less blog posts from me lately and that I have been talking about some “special projects”. Well, now you might be able to guess what the very large special project is! Food Blog Forum is coming to Atlanta! The other special project is my series of interviews with Great American Chefs. I will be posting another chef’s interview this week (including a fabulous recipe!).
Today, I am excited to announce that I have been working with Jaden Hair of Steamy Kitchen and Diane Cu of White on Rice Couple to bring the very first food blogger’s conference to Atlanta and the Southeast! I don’t know about for you, but that plane fare stuff gets really expensive for me when you have to fly across the country to attend a food blogger’s event when you live on the East Coast. Up until now, the West Coast is where most of the events have been held.
So, why not have one of these conferences in my own backyard? That is just what is going to happen. Food Blog Forum is coming to Atlanta on September 10th and 11th, 2010!
If you are not familiar with Food Blog Forum, it is an online community for food bloggers to learn and share information on photography, social media and technology. The website was created by Jaden and Scott Hair (Steamy Kitchen) and Diane Cu and Todd Porter (White on Rice Couple). Food Blog Forum has already had a very successful one day seminar in Los Angeles and now they are coming to Atlanta!
By attending the event, food bloggers will learn about all the skills that go into building a better blog such as branding, food photography and styling tips, technology and how to monetize your blog. Besides that, we are going to have a couple of great parties before and after the event with lots of time for networking and visiting with celebrity guests!
I am very pleased with all of the major sponsors that have agreed to help host and support this event in Atlanta. Thank you so much to all of you that are mentioned in this post! In addition, there are other sponsors that are participating in various ways and their support will be acknowledged at the conference. We thank all of you, too!
The kick-off party will be Friday September 10th at The Viking Store. They have graciously offered to host the event along with Whole Foods and Montaluce Vineyards. Chef Kevin Rathbun will be stopping by to do a cooking demo, so it should be a great way to get things started!
Saturday’s conference, on September 11th, will be held at The Shed at Glenwood. They will be hosting us for the day beginning with breakfast at 8:30 am. Lunch will also be served during the break. Thank you to everyone at The Shed for creating the space to fit us all in for the day!
Showcase Photo and Video will be providing much of the AV equipment as well as some camera equipment used during the photography workshop. There will be a demonstration of some of the techniques and lenses used for the photography workshop during the break.
Finally, our wrap up party Saturday evening will be held at Spice Market at the W Hotel Midtown! Thank you so much to Melissa Libby & Associates for arranging that awesome venue for us!
We are fortunate to have some great guest speakers for the seminar. You can go to the Food Blog Forum Atlanta event site to get more details and to purchase tickets. The Hyatt Place Hotel in Buckhead has also given us a very special rate for the weekend in support of the event.
Let’s show some real Southern hospitality to the Atlanta Food Blog Forum seminar! Space is limited to one hundred participants, so purchase your tickets early as we anticipate this event will be sold out.
I look forward to seeing you in September!
I just moved from Georgia.. I’m so jealous you’re getting a food blog forum there!!
Come on back and visit! It will be a great event!
too bad I will be back in school then, I would have loved to join you!
It’s a weekend! You should come! It would be fun to meet.
Congrats Gwen! What an exciting event and one I so wish I could attend – hoping for a FBF event here in the midwest sometime – as you said, traveling from this part of the country gets a bit expensive. It’s terrific Jaden and crew are so willing to share their knowledge with all of us!
How exciting! I haven’t heard about the Food Blog Forum, and I’m excited to be introduced. I am sure that this will be a fabulous conference, and I would love to be there. I just will have to see how my finances look this month.
Nice…hope it’s successful for all parties; congrats!
Thank you! I am glad that the planning is over and now the fun begins!
Wow, I hope that I’ll be able to get there. What an incredible amount of work you’ve done to put this together! Thanks for thinking of us on the East Coast and arranging this amazing event. Starting to save my pennies now.
I hope you will attend! We tried to keep ticket prices reasonable and I think the hotel is giving us a great rate.
If you need any other info, just let me know.
Gwen
Sounds like a lot of fun and sure to be information packed. The most invaluable part of these conferences are the people you meet and the relationships that are built. Looking forward to hearing about the rest of the presentation line-up and more of your write-ups about it! 😉
Thanks for the comment, Christina. The relationships are very important. I agree.
I am sure I will be posting updates along the way, so stay tuned!
Gwen
omg, i’m so excited! i’ve been stressing on how to afford to get to the west coast, but this is only a few hours from me! i will have to make it to this event! thank you! 🙂
I hope you will come! I am glad that we were able to put an event together on the East Coast.
wow Congrats thats just awesome…hope to see you soon!
Sounds like a great event…..but now I’d have to pay for plane fare being on the west coast.
Great idea! And the folks at Montaluce are awesome. Should be a terrific event.
Hi Joe,
I know Montaluce is awesome. Problem is…should I thank or hit Rob for getting me on Twitter??!!! 😉
Gwen
Oooh, exciting! I’ll have to see how things work out between now and then but I’m keeping my fingers crossed. It’d be great to meet the people that live in my computer 🙂
I hope you can come!!
Yes, we all have “friends” that live online and it is very cool to meet them in person!
Sounds like fun and wish I could attend but it is still quite a ways off for me. I’ll have to be contend to read about it for now.
Sounds exciting! Keep us updated!
sounds great …can’t wait to hear from you after the event

Should be so exciting:) Can’t wait for you updates…
How very cool! Can’t wait to hear more about it.
HI Gwen – What a feat to pull this off! WOW!
I will keep the dates in mind and if circumstances permit, will make it. Either way I wish you every success and I am sure this will be a phenomenal event!
What a fantastic achievement on your end 🙂
Ciao, Devaki @ weavethousandflavors
Hi Devaki,
Now you know what I have been working on!! I hope you can find a way to come! It would be so great to meet you!
Gwen
That is such exciting news. Sounds like you are planning a spectacular event. If I lived on the East coast I would be there in a heart beat. Thankfully I was at the first FBF event in LA, it was wonderful. Best of luck with all your preparations 🙂
I am moving to France the week before! I so would be there if I wasn’t! Bonne chance!
I wish I was moving to France! Lucky you! I wonder what part of France… 🙂
Caen, it is in lower Normandy(2 hr train ride from Paris). 😀
Very nice! We were supposed to take a trip to Normandy last year, but went to Vence and Eze instead and then over to Spain. I hope to make it to Caen in the next few years. My hubby really wants to visit Normandy as his parents met there during WW II. Safe travels!
Hi Gwen!
I actually read about this the other day…am so bummed though as I’ll be out of town that weekend. Just my luck. Can’t wait to read all about it from you though. 🙂
I am so sorry you will miss it! I will be sure to do an article (or two) after the event. If your plans change, sign up! 🙂
Thanks for the info, but as a poor college student it sooooo doesn’t work for me so I will take you up on those articles on the previous comment after the event!
Exciting, Gwen. Love following your travels 🙂 How and where do we register? Please let me know if there is any way I can help.
