Amsterdam and The Sofitel Legend The Grand Amsterdam
A five-star luxury property, The Grand Amsterdam has been the recipient of many awards and accolades. They’ve been included in Conde Nast Traveler’s Hot List, the World Luxury Hotel Awards (for hotel and spa), and were also the winner of the prestigious Prix Villegiature Awards 2013 for the Best Service at a hotel in Europe.
Elegant with a contemporary feel, the bold colors and considerable pieces of artwork blend French design with Dutch themes and style, such at the tulip and butterfly theme, which recur throughout the property. The rich history of the building was also inspiration for the renowned French interior architect, Sybille De Maragie.
So SPA, the property’s two-story wellness spa, offers guests an opportunity to relax in an urban oasis featuring an indoor swimming pool, steam bath, and Jacuzzi, and offers a selection of facial and body treatments featuring two French skin care lines, Carita and Cinq Monde.
The artwork throughout The Grand is breathtaking. Love the contemporary vibe within the historical walls. I was in Amsterdam for Queen’s Day a few years ago before embarking on a bike/barge tour through the Netherlands to Brussels, so my experience was quite different, but no less enjoyable! I live vicariously through you two 🙂 Hope to see soon!
Hi Priscilla,
Yes, the hotel is stunning and it’s in a perfect location to tour the city. I only wish we had a longer time to see Amsterdam, but that just means we’ll have to return some day. 😉 I hope we do see each other again soon! Maybe we’ll made it to the West Coast this year.
