A Cat in the Hat Cake for my birthday and Mountain Mondays

I could not let those of you down that might have come to my site today looking for a post for Mountain Mondays. Therefore, I have included this beautiful picture that was taken this past weekend at sunrise. The leaves have started to change and it was very chilly the last few days. Fall is definitely with us in the North Carolina mountains!
However, today is my 50th birthday, so I have decided to do an insane post to have some fun because it’s my birthday and I can do what I want to!
I made a cake that was a real pain in the butt to make a very special cake for this occasion! You may wonder why I would make a cake that is normally for children and not old folks. If you read on, you will know why!
My 50th Birthday Rhyme
Today is my 50th.
It is sad, but still true.
So now it is time to send in
Thing One and Thing Two!
For the last eight years
I’ve heard and been told,
That at age 50 I’ll be traded
For two twenty-five year olds!
Mr. B has made fun
Of the fact that I’ll turn 50
By suggesting a trade for
Two young things that are nifty.
If you know the Cat in the Hat,
And I bet we all do.
Do you recall the mess made by
Thing One and Thing Two?
They ran through the house
“With big bumps, jumps and kicks”
And with all sorts of trouble
“And all kinds of bad tricks!”
The things that they knocked over
And the things that they hit,
Mr. B would not like this
Not one little bit!
The clothes they would buy and
The frivolous goodies,
Like stilettos and handbags
And diamond studded hoodies!
It may be amusing to
Watch it unfold
But, Mr. B will soon tire
And this too will get old.
Mr. B was just kidding
Or at least I think that is true
So there will not really be
A Thing One and Thing Two.
I just wanted to have fun
For my big birthday bash
So, I made this crazy cake
And after pics, it totally crashed!
It was fun to bake the cake
And interesting to do a rhyme
But, you won’t see this again,
It is definitely the last time!
The end! (Thank Goodness!)
I just wanted to have a little fun for my 50th birthday. A woman girl has to do something to ease the pain on a big day like today! Better to laugh than to cry! Maybe I should have one of these or these to celebrate?! I have not totally lost my mind yet, but I am certainly on my way!
Now, for the really good part…there is a GIVEAWAY! Since I am feeling pretty old generous today, I would love to give away a present! Do you remember those awesome swag bags from Food Blog Forum Atlanta? I will be giving one of those Whole Foods bags away (stuffed full of goodies!) to one of Bunkycooks’ readers. I sure wish I could win one of these for my birthday! 😉

My favorite birthday cake was one that the Grand Floridian Bakery (at Walt Disney World) made me for my 25th birthday. It was a mad hatter style cake and alice in wonderland themed. The cake was marble cake with bavarian cream filling and was 6 layers of cake and 5 layers of filling. My parents surprised me with it and it was beyond amazing!!! SOOOO good!

For my last birthday, I had a monster party. My friends and I all dressed up as monsters, gathered a bunch of big cardboard boxes, and built a city in the front yard. Then, being monsteds, we destroyed it. Afterwards, we ate a cake that resembled the planet earth, complete with a red velvet interior, representing the molten core.
