On the Road and a visit to Crystal Pines Alpaca Farms in Carthage, North Carolina – Part One

I’m visiting the farm in Charlotte’s Web!

Roger and I traveled to Pinehurst this past week to participate in a panel on social media for the ANA (Agritourism Networking Association) in North Carolina. As always, when we go On the Road, we were able to meet some wonderful farmers and other people who care about the food we eat and where it comes from.

One delightful couple that we met were Joe and Ursula Picareiello. Joe and Ursula are both retired from other careers and decided to go into farming. They have owned and been farming Crystal Pines Alpaca Farms for 11 years.  They graciously invited us to visit their farm before we left the area.

This is Susie

Little did we know what beautiful scenery, animals and birds awaited us at their farm. We were there for hours taking photographs!

This post is a little bit of a Mountain Mondays post since it is all about the photographs.  The Picareiellos do not farm their land for produce to sell (although they do have a garden), so I did not create a recipe. Their farm is more of a wildlife refuge and it’s a no-kill area, so the animals are strictly for their enjoyment and their guests. Their farm is a little bit of Charlotte’s Web and heaven.

I am going to share some of the photos from their farm with you today and the rest next week.

Enjoy!

Nemo doesn’t move too quickly…

In fact…Nemo enjoys sleeping a whole lot!

Susie likes to take care of Nemo while he sleeps…if the Guinea Hens aren’t too loud…
