Hôtel Fouquet’s Barrière – Paris, France
The design of the hotel follows the traditional Haussmannian façade that was commissioned by Napoleon in the mid 19th century with its clean straight lines and natural stone exterior. From the outside, the hotel has the classic Champs-Élysées style architecture, but inside you will find a contemporary design with Italian Carrare marble floors, chandeliers in amber Murano glass, and black and white photographs of the Barrière family and celebrities from the motion picture industry, who have been guests of the hotel, which adorn the public spaces and hallways.
The guest rooms are more generous in size than many other properties in Paris, offering all of the amenities you would expect at a five-star luxury property and a level of service that is truly incomparable. All rooms are fitted with state of the art technology and the bathrooms are designed for relaxation. Prior to arrival, your Butler will request your desired preferences from bedding, to the daily newspaper, to what’s stocked in your minibar. This concept offers exceptional personalized service.
The hotel also offers a luxurious modern spa experience at Spa Barrière. Their signature Shiseido spa, designed in the shape of a tuning fork to signify a “perfect fine-tuned haven,” will soothe the mind and body before an evening out on the town.
For culinary enthusiasts, the hotel offers several dining options from casual French fare at Café Fouquet’s to Michelin-starred fine dining at Le Diane. For something more casual, guests can enjoy a cocktail or light bite at the colorful and relaxing Galerie Joy & Bar Le Lucien or Le Bar Marta.
At The Fouquet’s, you can sit outside during the warmer months (at one time known as “The Beach”) and enjoy the people watching along the Champs-Élysées or be seen inside at the most elegant café in Paris. The brasserie was registered as a French Historical Monument in 1990 and under Chef Jean-Yves Leuranguer, a “Meilleur Ouvrier de France” award-winner, the menu features interpretations of French classics, such as Colbert whiting, with parsley and garlic oven roasted potatoes, Lobster ravioli, and their “coin de rue” French fries.
For a first time trip or a return visit to Paris, Hôtel Fouquet’s Barrière offers its guests an elegant luxury experience in true Parisian style with impressive amenities, restaurants, central location, and attentive, yet unobtrusive service.
Plan your trip, bring your scarf and sunglasses (think Jackie O and French chic) and join the other guests on “The Beach” for a cocktail or glass of wine next spring or summer. It will be a hotel and culinary experience you will never forget.
Bonne Année and cheers to travel to far away places in 2015!

The spa looks very inviting… I’ve been to the Le Foquet’s brasserie in Paris and Cannes, I always like hearing a little about the history. Great photos, Roger! Happy New Year to both of you!
Hi Priscilla,
Thank you and Happy New Year to you as well!
I agree, the history is what makes these properties more interesting and of course, all of the famous people who have dined at the brasserie and stayed at the hotel.
I hope to see you in October in Louisville!
